I got a new computer! I can watch things and look at things and do things and things and things. Everything is exciting.
And it's blue! I love it.

I'm also trying to learn piano again. Why not?

I also realized that I may not have ever mentioned this before, but I have a tumblr. I've had it for three years.
Heh, oops.
Feel free to follow or not or whatever.

I also have a fandom tumblr, if anyone's interested in staring at random pictures of Chris Colfer.

This screen is so bright and clear omg.

It comes a week late, but here it is.

Every time a finish a book, I put together a soundtrack for shits and giggles. I usually give them to my friends if they ask, or just play them in the car.
A few people have asked me why I chose the songs or what people/scenes they correspond to, so I decided to post them here with an explanation for each song.

So here's a whole bunch of songs. Whether you're interested in my stories or not, check it out! There might be an artist you're interested in, or something that looks fun or weird.

My little brother is here for the week, so today we went to the beach. I took pictures and it was very nice.
On the way home, I was listening to my mp3 player. The song Laurel & Hardy came on, which is a song by Martha Wainwright about her little brother and fellow musical genius, Rufus. It's loving and touching and sickeningly sweet. It made me feel warm and fuzzy and nostalgic, so I turned to look at my brother Erik.
He was meticulously working on something in his notebook. I looked closer.
He was, slowly and with great concentration, writing "POOP" in the middle on an empty page.
Oh family.

Life are still a little busy and at least somewhat interesting. I'm getting close to notsick status, so that's nice.

And, oh yeah, MY TEETH ARE CRAP.

I'm not even going to START listing all my dental problems, but this one is just balls. I got a partial crown a few months ago, and was told by my dentist not to chew on ice or anything too hard with that tooth (duurrr), so I didn't. And I've been taking very good care of my teeth during the past few months for other reasons, so it wasn't that hard to pay attention to it. A week or so ago, however, I was eating a gummi and the partial came out and I bit down on it and eerrggghhh. Not a pleasant experience. So I panicked because I keep fucking up my teeth and I hate that my grandpa has to pay for my stupidity and I was also coming into a heavy depression at the time and it was almost my birthday. They come not single spies, but in freakin' battalions. Anyways, I put the partial BACK IN because I was scared and didn't know what the hell to do. It stayed, so I just kept it like that and decided to tell my dentist at the next appointment, which was today. I should have called him the day it happened, but dumb be me. It happened again days later, and again, and then yesterday it was gone. Yes, I swallowed it.
So now my patient dentist has to do a full crown (turns out I had broken the partial, which is why that chunk came out. I still have no idea now, though). My jaw absolutely sucks when it comes to the anesthetic taking, so that's going to be a ball. It's also the first time he's had someone break a partial. Again, winner.
The one good thing is that he's only charging for the lab fees, which is very gracious of him.

My theory about this is that either I just completely suck, or my teeth contain some kind of tracking/monitoring devices (like in 12 Monkeys) that my subconscious is aware of and is trying to eliminate, tooth by tooth. Really, I'm screwed either way.

Again, life is a silly bitch, and all that cal.

My sickness-crazy hasn't been too bad, really. Although, I did spend about ten minutes today laughing because I realized that I own a very fluffy bunny. There was also something about the phrase "Jew saga" that came up somewhere, and that got me going for a while too.

Also, this was my mental response to the recent events on LJ and some other internets tomfoolery.

omg the Flaming Lips/Gnarls Barkley show was amazing. The first proper Lips show I've seen. I died and have been reborn as a disciple of Wayne. I'm sick now because of the show but I don't care. I have a tote bag filled with confetti.

Gaaaaaaaaaah, school starts tomorrow. Dummbbb. My classes this semester don't look too great, but I'll push through it. And I'll be trying Nano again in November, so that's something forward to.

I've been busy making the best out of the end of summer. I managed to do quite a bit this summer, even if I didn't get a job yet. I've been drawing more, and I think I've gotten much better than I was last summer. I at least have some experience with color now, which is something I've always wanted. I also made at least three comics! Well, I worked on three comics. I haven't finished all of them.
I got a juror summons last week, and had to send in my school information to get it postponed. I also got an overlay for a large hole in one of my back teeth, but it's very fragile, so I can't chew on hard things with that side of my fffface anymore.
Scrubs is coming to Comedy Central. That is cah-ray-zee.

Also, NEW MP3 PLAYER!! Yaaaaaaay! I love it a looottt. Ever since my iPod broke (and the replacements broke), I've been rather musicless outside of the computer and car, so I finally decided to get a Zen Vision:M. It's so awesome! It's 30GB, stores pictures and videos, and has an FM radio built in.

Isn't she beautiful?? Ignore my freakishly shaped thumb, pls.

Björk & Thom Yorke - I've Seen It All

Roxie: Oh god, I love it when people with really unique voices sing together
Roxie: It's like Jesus wearing a magical bowtie of love, eating babies of peace
Michael: ...
Roxie: for serious.

Watching the Lips live at Vegoose. In a prerecorded thing, Jon Stewart announced that they were about to play She Don't Use Jelly. And I exploded.

How strange.
You know, I've had all their albums for a while now.
For some reason, though, I didn't really start listening to them until exactly one week ago. Incredible.
I think I'm finally in love with Radiohead.

Took long enough.

Cathedrals - Jump, Little Children
DOWNLOAD THIS SONG. For the love of Jebus, do it now.
If there's a chance any of you have heard a Jump, Little Children song, it was probably this one. It's sooo lovely, I nearly cried the first time I heard it. Yes, I'm a pussy.

Sonic landscapes echoing vistas
Someone is listening from a safe distance
The line moves slowly into a fading light
A final moment in the dead of night

Come Out Clean - Jump, Little Children
This is an excellent song, though I probably could've chosen a better one from their body of work. Oh well, this is just to prove that they have rockin' songs as well as slow, ethereal ones.

A sentimental position - hold that thought
An emotional gesture - let it go
An enamel persona - residue
A scientific religion - break it down

The Woman With The Tatooed Hands - Atmosphere
I recommend this song even if you don't like rap or hip hop. It's beautiful. Warning?: it's about a woman touching herself. *gasp*

I didn't get turned on, I just got turned
I wasn't as aroused as I was concerned
For each one of 'em I've hurt
And every time I've been burned
I've got a lot to teach but even more to learn

Scapegoat - Atmosphere
Awwwwesome song. Poetry set to music, my friends.

It's in the water, it's in the air, it's in the meat
It's indirect, indiscrete, it's inconsistent, incomplete
It's in the streets, every city, everywhere you go
In every man it's the insanity, the fantasies, the casualties

If you download something and have trouble playing it, tell me.

I should be studying for meteorology tomorrow, but I wanted to show peoples this.
Like I said in my last entry, I found something really cool and weird when searching for some of those music pictures. I have no idea how, though. It was just a very strange coincidence.
I discovered this website that has a bunch of vintage pictures of San Jose State, ranging from the 1970's to the late 1800's. You can find it here.

How awesome is that? I love it.

My brain is much more clear and happy. Time for....time-wasting.

1. Open a music player
2. Go to 'all music'
3. Hit shuffle
4. Find photos of the first 10 artists/bands that come up [no repeats]
5. Have people guess who the artists/bands are.

No cheating!!!

Repeats aside, this is exactly what came up. Awesome.
Ohhhh muzak )
metatronis: (Colin rocking teh fuck out)

I've really been waiting for this since it was annouced, but in my mind I've been waiting for years. To see Colin shake Conan's hand (and smile smile smile) and to hear Conan say "The Decemberists". Two of my favorite things, Conan and Decemberists, joined in holy TV union for a glorious...well, five minutes. I'm so happy.

Need to get more sleep. Will talk about trip thingy later.
