Happy early Easter!
AND HAPPY DOCTOR WHO DAY AAAH!

My Blueberry is doing really well and I'm so grateful to have a working computer and yay. I've been putting it through hell lately, watching and downloading tons of stuff just because I can, and it's held up fabulously well. I did manage to get a virus less than a week after we bought it, but I kicked its ass and now everything's gravy.

Oh! I forgot last time, but my friends and I started a tumblr for nerd-themed cocktails. We just started officially last week, but I think it's going to be lots of fun. The first drink is Star Trek related. Please to be taking a look if you're interested?

More meme time.

So many Sweethearts week things already! Lots from my friends list too. All y'all are amazing.

I may get to hang out in snow this weekend! It's been hot here lately, so going to hang out with my brother in Tahoe makes me super happy.

I've been in a weird limbo state recently. It's hard to be motivated to do creative stuff when you feel worthless. I really gotta work on applications, but it's so intimidating.
Blah blah blah, privileged person complaining.

I did get a ridiculous idea for one of the themes. I can't wait to see what people come up with for the rest of the week!
metatronis: (Spreadin' Christmas cheer like a mofo)
Today was weird. A bee hit me in the face, and then there was a camera crew on the bus, and a lady on the street dancing for "peace", and a license plate that said: 4r moose. What did you do for your moose? Buy a car? Kill a man?

Anyways. I know I slacked off last year, but I'm totally gonna do it this time around.

SO, if you want a holiday card, regardless of whether we interact regularly, just comment here with whatever name and address you want me to use, and I'll send something! Comments are screened, but if you're still uncomfortable with that or something, you can always PM or email it to me. Also, doesn't matter where you live! Though people far away might not get theirs until, like, summer. I don't know how these things work.

Let me know if you want a specific holiday, or I'll assume that Christmas/generic is groovy. You can even tell me to do a specific non-holiday theme (rabbits, bananas, fandom stuff, whatevs), and I'll do my best to fulfill it.

I also can't guarantee that they'll get out in time for Christmas, cause I do things weird.
And speaking of that, I might put strange messages in them. Just...uh...know that it might not be the most ordinary things. People who've gotten my cards before may know what I'm talking about.

Anyways, DOOO IT.

Uggghhh I'm so tired it feels like my eyeballs are gonna fall out. Also Reggie is being gross and he smells like pee.
Also CONAN TOMORROW omgomgomgomg

I have done an art!
I just got back my favorite art assignment of the semester so far. It's more or less the only one I've liked, haha.

Happy early Cinco de Mayo! Hopefully my professor will let me drink margaritas in class.

First of all, thanks to everyone who sent cards! I knew I wouldn't have time to do it myself this year, but I do so appreciate getting them.
Second, nnnnnnnnnnrggggggggghhh. The only thing I don't like about lazing about on break is that my internal clock is so off it's not even funny. Por ejemplo, it is 10 in the morning and I'm about to go to sleep. Hurrrr.
Third, oh god I miss England so much. And traveling. I want to do it always and forever.
Ennglaaand come back baby, I just wanna hold you.
metatronis: (Spreadin' Christmas cheer like a mofo)
Hope everyone had a ballin' holiday!
I meant to post and do a music dump a week ago but my laptop ac adapter sploded on me, so I was without a laptop for a while. It's all gravy now.
I got some nice stuff, a crapload of gift cards and I'm now freaking out about my wisdom teeth and preparing for the trip.
Speaking of which, I'm leaving the country in less that a month!! Holy crap.

In summary, merry holidays and I'll do the music post this weekend. Whoop.

It is time

So my last final has come and gone, thank goodness. Sorry that I haven't been around much for commenting and journaling, but the last few weeks have been red alert "let's make Roxie write a billion papers" weeks, and I was hella sick last week so I wasn't coherent anyways.

I have many things to do over the break, and to prepare for england. Ohgodohgodohgodohgod.
I was kind of in the Christmas spirit, and then finals busytime happened, and now I wanna get it back. But I'm too tired to go around being merry because it started raining this weekend (yayayayayyyay) and I was wearing broken down sandals, and I slipped and almost fell down a flight of stairs. So I have bruises on my legs and butt, and a complete lack of desire to go outside right now.
There's also snow on the mountains!! I was on campus this morning and I could see the snowy mountains, and it was beautiful but I was like "I thought I was in California?"
I mean, there's snow sometimes, but usually not this much. Awesome.

I'll try to post consistently over break, although it seems that when I actually have the time, I start to forget. Maybe it will help me stay on track with my break activities/goals.
For just the next few weeks:
- Christmas presents
- Finish a few drawings (color Rorschach picture!)
- Finish Twilight Princess, or at least get further

I think I can do that. Or try. Bleh.

They cancelled our fireworks! The wind was too strong, apparently, so they couldn't risk it. Balls.
It almost feels like 4th of July never happened. :(

OMG Doctor Who finale!

A few thoughts in annoying short form.

Today Erin and I saw There Will Be Blood in a theater that used to be a burlesque house. That was pretty damn cool.
I want to see it again, but I think I'll wait until it's out in normal theaters. Guhhh, I love me some Daniel "hotpants" Day-Lewis. Or as Erin would say, 'ol Crazyeyes Day-Lewis.
Paul Dano was pretty awesome too.

School starts again in two weeks! Editing is going alright, so I will hopefully finish that on schedule.

New Years celebration was exciting, even though I got a stupid cold the next day. My tolerance for alcohol is much better now than it used to be, which is nice for the holiday celebrations.
Christmas was decent, but it was probably the least exciting day of that week, which is odd.

Oh, and the wind on Friday was INSANE. Ain't seen anything like it in a while.

Omnomnomnomnom.

Angela Dani Jocelyn Jean Markus Harbut Flimflam Chimajig WOW

I have a crazy number of people to get presents for this year. I have no idea why, either - it feels like my list has doubled since last year, even though it really hasn't. Huh.

Had my last finals on Monday, thank goodness. I just can't brain anymore. It's been a loooong, painful semester. But I have upper division standing now, so yay!

FINALLY, there are movies I'm looking forward to!
It's going to be a fun month. I hope.

EASTER EASTER DAYS

Am I only going to draw on holidays from now on? Feels like it.
I am a complete idiot for doing this goddamn picture instead of working on my latest 2-D art project, which involves mostly stippling (i.e. the most tedious fucking thing IN THE WORLD) and is due on wednesday. Ah, fffffwhatever.

I definitely don't draw mah girlz enough.

Christmas was more or less good times. I didn't exactly tell my grandparents what I wanted, so I got more gift cards than I have before, but that's all groovy. I got many cool things from my friends, cause they are awesome like that. The past couple of days have been spent watching the fourth season of Scrubs, goofing off and fearing the wind.
A few days ago, a couple of my friends came to my mom's house to visit. The occurrences therein consisted of: figuring out how to drive my mom's car at night in the rain, fast food adventures, realizing that the emergency brake had suddenly decided to work and then stop again, hawt pr0nz, tamales, wasting time with Super Smash Brothers, blowing eggs, crazy sleep speak, uncomfortable sleep positions which resulted in little to no actual sleep, sitting on tea, drowning in clothes, waiting for Dustin to go to his friend's house to get the keys to his own house, gay dogs who hit their head on chairs, being invaded by an army of ants, watching mah gays kill said ants, major redecorating, sleeping next to a snake, listening to music through a tiger's head, going out to dinner with other friends and making fools out of the world, and the spilling of FOUR beverages over the course of that 24 hour period (by me. Yes, I know).
I also talked to someone today (who I'd met a few times before), and found out that I may have more immediately in common with this person than anyone I've ever met, which is awesome.
Oh, and my grades don't suck too much! Yay!
metatronis: (Content Ninja)
People are just...gah!!
Anyways, I'm at my mom's for most of the week, so I'll have limited internet access. I will try to hang around when I can, though. Hopefully I can really relax this week without too much stress...at least, once Christmas is over. And then I can drawdrawdraw and writewritewrite as much as I want. Joy.
If anyone wants to get ahold of me, call me on my cell.
And in case I don't get to say it in time, happy Christmas to everyone!

I never look forward to holiday meals. Being a vegetarian AND an unreasonably picky eater = nothing for me to eat, evar. So instead of eating with the family, I spent the whole Easter time in another room playing video games. I'm such a great daughter/sister/granddaughter/niece.
BUT, on the upside, I did spend part of that time bathing. Last week I didn't wash my hair for five days straight (I'll give you three guesses as to what was distracting me so much). When I woke up on Sunday, it felt like my scalp was on fire. Then I bathed and fell in love with the feeling of having a clean head.

So that's what I did this weekend. Bathed and played video games.
Oh, and:

Today during a discussion in Sci-Fi/Fantasy Lit we somehow turned a short space opera about robots into a mild smutfest, despite the fact that there were no females in the story at all. Hur hur.

SPRING BREAK!! Finally, I can do whatever I want for a week. And I can sleep innnnn. But now I don't know what to do first.
Should I write? Draw? Read? Porn?
metatronis: (OH NOES ANYTHING BUT THAT)
CHRISTMAS
was boring as shit.
I sat around in my pajamas all day trying to avoid going into the family room where my grandma, aunt, uncle-in-law and uncle were watching movie after movie. They watched A Christmas Story for the millionth fuckin' time. I used to love that movie when I was a wee one, but after years of being forced to watch it over and over again I have come to hate it. Such is life.

That's not to say it was a bust. Not at all. On top of a whole bunch of cool gift cards, I got a 250 GB external hard drive and a Wacom tablet, both of which I have made good use of in the past few days.
This is also the first year I've really been able to give my family cool gifts, so that's pretty cool too.

In the meantime, I have gotten back into one of my all-time favorite anime, Trigun. If you've never seen or heard of Trigun, it's kind of a futuristic western sci-fi comedy on acid with interesting characters, a killer backstory, some intriguing philosophy and a huge scoop of awesome on top.
The other day, I found the old soundtracks and was reminded of why Tsuneo Imahori OWNS MY FREAKIN' SOUL. He is one of my most favoritest composers EVAR. I have known this since the first time I heard the Trigun theme song, and fell in love.

I have all of the Trigun soundtracks, including the third which was simply a "best of" type combination of the first two, except that it was the only one of them to be released in North America.
I got it on the first day it was released, in 2001.
At a huge comic-book convention.
If that is not proof of the dork that is me, I don't know what is.

Simple mathematic explanation of albums )

I'm not quite sure how I'd describe his music. It's kind of...bluesy-funk-honky-tonk-techno-craziness. Let's just say I wasn't the least bit surprised when I found out that one of his major influences was Frank Zappa. If any of that sounds at all appealing to you, I'd have a listen. Seriously, even if you hate anime, this music rocks. I'm sure it's not for everyone, but it definitely suits my tastes PERFECTLY, and it makes a great show even better.
And I don't know if anyone will care/want them, but I have uploaded a few songs from Spicy Stewed Donut for your aural pleasure.
These are all instrumentals.

No-Beat - Fast!
Philosophy in a Tea Cup - Calm! And then fast!
Blue Funk - Smooth!

And a gorgeous song...with words! Japanese words, but words nonetheless.
Sound Life

I'm not certain that Tsuneo wrote the lyrics, but I know he composed it.
Even so, beautiful lyrics. It's supposed to be a folk song that was taught/sung to the main character Vash by his mentor, Rem.

English translation:
It's about the recording of life...through sound! )

That was kind of a long entry, but I seriously love this guy.

Now I've just got to edit it. I suppose I still won't be going to bed at a decent hour for a while.

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVE, EVERYBODY!!!

HEY EVERYBODY.

On Monday my hair was bleached (due to the collaborative efforts of pineapplegrl186Erin and fiddle_witchDani) and then dyed with pretty awesome results. Though, because I dyed it myself, I ended up with the top half of my body being virtually slathered in dye due to my recklessness and impatience. Erin says that the green on the back of my neck makes me look like The Hulk. Anyways, I present you with my festive, red and green hairs:

Choking on a toothpick.

Top layer is red; bottom is green. I am pleased.

Right now I find myself pondering something that I have often pondered in the past.
See, as far as I know, I'm not affected by caffeine. And I don't mean that I drank so much coffee or soda over the years that I'm now immune to it. I mean that I have never felt anything from ingesting caffeine, EVER. Sugar also seems to have no affect on me. When I was a child, I was always confused as to why my friends would act "hyper" simply by eating candy. That's not to say I've never been hyper before, but it's never occurred after the consumption of caffeine or candy. However, I have no idea what it feels like to be "wired", as the weasels say. Is it the same as when you feel hyper?

Anyways, my point is: can anyone else relate to this? I know this isn't incredibly rare as I've heard of similar cases before, but I'm curious about all y'all.
metatronis: (Spreadin' Christmas cheer like a mofo)
So, on Wednesday I saw Rent in the afternoon and Walk the Line in the evening. I really, really liked them both, but after I got out of Walk the Line I still couldn't stop thinking about Rent.

I've seen a few people on my flist making their Holiday card posts, and I remembered that I was planning to do it this year too.
HOWEVER, I'm not necessarily going to be sending cards. I might send you a letter, a postcard, a card, a dinosaur, or even PURE CRACK COCAINE. It may be heart-felt, creepy, or half-assed. Who can tell?

A few months ago, I never in my wildest dreams thought that I could ever have a chance at getting through this.
But I did, and with 4 days to spare.
Now I've just got to finish it up.
