Eyyyyyy!
Congrats to everyone who won this year, and good luck to those who got caught up in other things. Try again next year!
And on the last few thousand: this is the first time I've ever won with porn, the first time I've written porn in the context of a full novel and the first time I've written heterosexual porn. Also the first time I've written porn involving a priest. YAYAYyyyy

Nano going on
Nov. 12th, 2009 01:08 amAlmost halfway! I've been really busy lately. I should actually be working on a paper right now, but.......internet.
The story I've been working on isn't quite what I'm used to, so it's been a bit of a struggle mentally. I'm starting to get into it, though.
Cool things that have happened recently: uh, mostly naps. I have a tiring schedule this semester, so that's fun.
Oh I saw Spring Awakening a couple of weeks ago and it was amazing!!! If you enjoy musicals and awesome things, do whatever you can to get tickets! Sell your soul, your body, your houseboat, whatever it takes! Aaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhh
Everyone remember to go see The Boat that Rocked! Oh, I mean Pirate Radio. Cause I guess Americans can't identify with boats...or rocking.

Lots of stuff has been happening!
School started on Monday, I cut my hair, I re-watched the entirety of Buffy, had a week of adventures and I'm getting my tattoo tomorrow.
I also found out that there are life drawing sessions run by the animation club at my school, so I went last week and it was awesome. Three dollars to draw naked people for three hours is a fabulous deal, and all the people there are so talented and have such varied styles. I'm hoping to go at least once a week.
I must also profess my love of Daiso, the Japanese dollar store (essentially). I love things that are tiny and colorful and shiny and wacky because inside I am pretty much a child, so Daiso is like a magical wonderland of crap. Here's a picture of me and Reggie getting acquainted with my favorite purchase, Twinkle McStarson.
I've also been think more and more about Nano. The idea I'm working with is something I came up with a couple of years ago, and I'm pretty excited about it. The problem is that it's less fantastical and requires a lot more research, and it's also the first story that doesn't take place in the Funnily Enough setting (though I'm not dropping that universe any time soon). It's more unfamiliar than anything I've done before, but I figure that if I could get through a story as difficult and convoluted as last year's, I can definitely do this.
Oh gosh, I'm starting to get nervous about tomorrow. I hope it turns out well!

It comes a week late, but here it is.
Every time a finish a book, I put together a soundtrack for shits and giggles. I usually give them to my friends if they ask, or just play them in the car.
A few people have asked me why I chose the songs or what people/scenes they correspond to, so I decided to post them here with an explanation for each song.
So here's a whole bunch of songs. Whether you're interested in my stories or not, check it out! There might be an artist you're interested in, or something that looks fun or weird.

Aaaaah, I forgot to get my vaccinations. I gotta do it next weeek, I guess.
I also have to start working on finishing/formatting my last Nano. I still don't know if I'm gonna make it available, but I at least want an actual copy.
SPEAKIN' OF THAT, I've been working on something and I'm probably gonna post a crapload of music tomorrow. So yay.
End.

I can do television
Nov. 19th, 2008 10:41 pmI had a mini breakdown today. I do not know why. I think I should maybe see a therapist before I leave, but I'm afraid of what it might bring up.
BUT, I was comforted greatly when I got home because the new season of one of my favoritest shows ever, SCREENWIPE, has just started again. Sure, the seasons are only about 4 episodes long, but it still thrilllllls me. Critics are normally some of my least favorite people in the world, but when Charlie says something cynical I just want to cuddle the seething anger right out of him. He also shares my passion for television and understands its potential. I love that man.
Just for kicks, here's one of my favorite Charlie rants:
Oh, and this is pretty nice

Yes.
And the new footage. Lordy.
When I got home today, Watching the Watchmen was waiting for me. I spent an hour or so looking through it - it's soo pretty.
I particularly enjoyed Neil Gaiman's sketch of his idea for Watchdogs: "Dead human in the gutter. The city is afraid of me. I have smelt its lamposts..."; also, the preliminary sketches of Dr. Manhattan's penis. what.
Oh god, NaNo ...it looms.

Oh jeez. They just posted the new NaNoWriMo shirts.
I think I have to decide whether I'm going to participate this year.
So far I haven't gotten any big ideas, and I'm not sure if I want to continue in the same vein as the past stories.
I still love my Jerbear and all of those guys, and I don't think I'm done with that universe at all. Maybe I need a break from them? Or maybe I need a break from Nano. That's what I keep thinking, but on the other hand, I keep getting that urge, and in my stony heart of hearts I want to do something.
It's my 4th year! I've gotta try, right? I mean, this November will be busy, but it's been busier.
Aaaaaaahhhh, I think I'll get the shirt now, but I'd better start brainstorming soon.

Wooooooooop! My Nano bone is tingling!
Midterm week! Ohno!
Me oh my, but it's wintry outside. I had some mediocre hot chocolate. That was not part of the intended course.
And did I mention how much I love In Rainbows? Oh my goodness. *dances without feet*

My brain is everywhere these days.
And not just with summer wrapping up and everything, but the steady approach of Nano as well.
For the past week or so I've been coming up with ideas for the next [continuing] story, and it's going well but is also very, very frustrating. I can't talk to anyone about my ideas because a) no one irl is gonna listen and b) more importantly, if I talk about it, I won't be as motivated to write two months from now. The person I normally have these lengthy discussions with is fffffaaaaaaaar awwaaaayyy, and the only other person I have [4 seriouz] discussions with has just started reading my stories. OOPS.
So basically I really don't want to talk about it because it's better for my brain in the long run, but it's hard not to because this point in the process is exciting and I'm a hopeless attention whore. It's like this every year, though. If I can't cope by now, I should probably just move to Hhhhacksville.
The ideas that I've been expanding on are also kinda depressing, which is...making me depressed. I've gotta start thinking up some happiness, and fast.
Oh well. School starts tomorrow, so hopefully that'll distract me enough that I can pocket my fictional universe for a while.
Yes, our semester is starting on a Thursday.
No, I don't understand it either.

YAY, two time winnar!!
Now I will update more, and I might be a better student. Too bad the semester's almost over...
I signed up for next semester's classes, too. A lot of the ones I wanted were full. Grr.
Also, I'm sick! At least the sickness waited until my last Nano day to take hold of me.
And I've very nearly given up hope of finding a Wii. My Zelda sits on a shelf unplayed. Woe. :(

Shhhh. I 'm trying to avoid a History paper.
Yay, still on track! Although, I can already tell that this story is going to extend far past Nano. Or at least as much as the first one did. Balls.
Why do the scenes always have to be so much longer when I write them out than when they're safely tucked away under my brain-flaps?!
Random excerpt:
---------------------------
"It looks like a lovely setting for a concert," Mallty whispered.
"Why are you whispering," Larax whispered back.
"I don't know, but it just feels like I should be."
"If you have to be quiet around here, how do you think a concert is going to fair, huh?" Jeremy asked.
"Oh," she said in her normal voice, "you're right. Whatever."
There was something surreal about the park that went beyond its odd location. It bore a startling resemblance to the field that they'd been gallivanting in previously, not in appearance but in its general aura. Perhaps it was the fact that it was almost the same group of people, or maybe it was simply the fact that it was covered in grass. Maybe grass is magical. I dunno, why don't you shut up.
